Clothes washer leaks during draining

My movers gave me a rubber washer that had "fallen out" of the clothes washer. I've set up the machine and did a load of laundry but it leaked water when draining. Where could this drain go?

Drain Pump

How it Works:

The drain pump pumps the water out the drain hose. If the drain pump is cracked or damaged, it can leak. In addition, if the drain pump bearings are worn out, the drain pump might leak water. Inspect the drain pump to see if it is leaking water. The drain pump is not repairable—if the pump is leaking water, replace it.

Tub Seal and Bearing Kit

To see parts for your washing machine, you need to enter your model number on the right. The system will then display parts that are associated with your washing machine.

How it Works:

If the washer is leaking water the tub seal and bearing kit might need to be replace. This is usually a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer.

Tub Seal

How it Works:

The tub seal might be torn, causing water to leak from the seal. When the tub seal is leaking water, water can leak through the tub seal and into the tub bearings. This causes the bearings to fail. For this reason, if the tub seal is leaking water, replace both the tub seal and the tub bearings. Be aware that this is a complicated repair and will require disassembling most of the washer.

Door Boot Seal

How it Works:

The door boot seal might be torn, causing water to leak from the seal. If the boot seal is torn, replace it

Tub-to-Pump Hose

How it Works:

The tub-to-pump-hose might be split or torn. If the tub-to-pump-hose is damaged, you must replace it. Do not attempt to cut off the damaged piece of hose and stretch the hose to fit the pump. Stretching the hose will put strain on the remainder of the hose and may cause the hose to suddenly rupture.

Drain Hose

How it Works:

The drain hose might have a leak. The drain hose most commonly leaks from the connection between the pump and the back of the washer. If the washer is pushed too far against the wall, the hose can rub against the wall and form a leak. Inspect the drain hose for leaks. If the drain hose has a leak, replace it.
