Spilled water on my mac

Hello

I spilled water on my macbook pro 2013 model with retina, I though i saved it (gave it time to dry out) but it wont turn on now. i checked the motherboard and it had zero damage on it. I am going to file an insurance claim on it but my question is if i get a new 2015 macbook pro with retina can i do a 1 for 1 swap of the SSD ? IE take out my old SSD put it in the new model ?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The 2014 and 2015 Retina MBPs use an SSD unit with different firmware from the older ones, so the drive won't be directly transferrable into the new machine. However, OWC makes USB 3.0 enclosures for the older Retina SSDs, so you can install the old drive into an external case, then transfer the data onto your new Macbook Pro.

There are two different revisions of the Retina MBP; get the enclosure that's appropriate for the damaged laptop.

OWC Envoy Pro enclosure, MBP Retina June 2012-October 2013

OWC Envoy Pro, MBP Retina October 2013 and later
