digitizer unresponsive after replacement

Replaced digitizer on iPad 4 wifi. Display is fine but I cannot "slide" to unlock. Home button, power/sleep work fine. Also, how can I turn it off with the digitizer not working. Thank you!

Hi, sounds like a faulty digitizer, it may have arrived faulty or you may have damaged the cable when seating the digitizer down, and may have got it caught under the actual digitizer itself, it will need replacing.

As for turning it off, hold lock button and home button till it goes off and let go immediately. :-)

Ged, thanks for the comments. First digitizer was frome ebay and I had to reuse the Home Button cable. I ordered a new digitizer w/home button cable from Quality Repair parts. I hope that solves my problem. Thanks again for the help.

Also, I popped the speaker cable off the board. Will that a) affect operation (other than no sound) and b) will the audio jack still work?

Either the digitizer cable is not fully inserted, the cable or screen got damaged during install, or you received a faulty screen.

To turn it off, keep holding the power button and home button until the iPad reboots, then let go of the home button but keep the power button pressed. After displaying the apple logo for a few seconds it will completely turn off.
