Why is my wifi button greyed out?

the wifi button will not turn on and is greyed out

You could try resetting all your network settings and see if that works.

If not and it has been dropped the WiFi board that connects to the iPad may have come loose. You would have to get into the iPad to check this. If it hasn't come loose you could try replacing the WiFi board.

Go in to settings - general - about and then scroll down to where it says wifi address. If this says not connected, then indeed you have a problem with the wifi chip not being properly connected to the board as James says above. This either needs the solder re flowing, or the chip replacing
