Replace outer screen only

My LCD is good but my outer screen is cracked. I have a replacement outer screen but don't have instructions how to just replace that part.

Hi,

Replacing the glass only on an iPhone screen is called "refurbishing." It is a messy job that requires some getting used to (to say the least).

Although I replace screens everyday in my shop, I never refurbish screens. Just to say that it's a real PIA job.

I recommend that you buy a complete replacement screen. They don't cost so much anyhow. And they are way easier to replace.

Here's iFixit's guide for replacing the complete screen assembly. It shows all the steps and has links to the needed parts and tools.

As you can see from the included links, their own top quality screens which are backed up by a lifetime warranty are $35. So if it is to save money, I personally think it's not worth it. If it is because you enjoy DYI repair, I personally don't think this qualifies as DIY. It will be messy and hardly successful.

Throw it in the bin and buy the whole LCD.

You can do it if you posses all the tools and knowledge to do so but I don't know ANY shops that would even bother doing just the glass.
