memory upgrade has to be paired?

hi there i have a question.

do i need to put two memory cards in my imac or can i leave the 2gbx2 and

put one 4gb in to?

so i will have 8 gb.

Options

You can add just one at a time. You loose a little bit from not getting interleaving but the cost savings more than makes up for the little loss. But you will have 6GB, a 2 and a 4, not 8 GB.
