Logic Board Replacement Question

Few months back I bought a iPad 3 4G off eBay for a gift and it was locked with "Find my iPhone" I contacted the seller and he wouldn't turn it off unless I shipped it back. So I am here now to ask if I replace the logic board will it wipe everything including "Find my iPhone" and if not what do I have to replace to wipe everything? Thanks for the help Jordan

If you replace the entire logic board in the iPad with one that is not attached to an iCloud then the iPad will be fully removed from iCloud and be usable. But as you say you have a cellular iPad you can actually bypass iCloud and turn the Pad into a Wifi Only iPad. This does require you to have some pretty good soldering skills though if you would like more info on this please contact me.

For the bypassing of iCloud and making it into a WiFi only do I need to buy a whole new logic board? If so I think it I'd rather just get it 4G.

Why would he need soldering skills? He can bypass iCloud by using Doulci, that allows you to use it wifi only.

And of course it won't be attached to iCloud if he gets another logic board, because that's basically a different iPad.

Correct here is the guide on the hardware bypass involving soldering http://pasha4ur.org.ua/images/phocagalle... basically what you are doing is telling the board that it is a WiFi only board and when it check if the serial number is locked on apples server it is not because the 3g board uses the IMEI number to see if it is blocked. Please note to remove the resistors you will need a very small soldering iron and most likely a microscope.

I see, this is new information to me, but I would say Doulci is also effective if you just wanted to use it on wifi, this includes no soldering, just using a fake activation server.

Hi Jordan,

Unfortunately, this isn't something you can just get rid of, wiping the iPad will kick it in to iCloud activation.

You can not replace anything on the iPad to remove iCloud either.

If the seller is unwilling to remove iCloud through a simple message, I would get your money back through eBays seller protection scheme, if the seller didn't mention that the product is iCloud locked in the description, you have every right to get your money back.

I think they may be trying to scam you by trying to get you to send it back, I would say to the seller that you will be opening a case with eBay if they don't provide the iCloud details. :-)

Thanks for the response! I will check with eBay, but I still really want an iPad. Hahaha so even if I replaced the Logic Board the iCloud info will still be on there?

by

As I commented above, it wouldn't have iCloud on new logic board because it would basically be a different iPad, I would highly suggest getting your money back and not try tampering with anything or you'll be stuck with it and no money.
