Seagate SSHD Yosemite compatibility

The 1tb drive in my 21.5" Mid 2011 iMac failed, so I'm now booting from a Seagate 2tb SSHD drive in a USB 3 caddy.

I want to install this SSHD into the iMac, but read somewhere that Yosemite is not compatible with 3rd-party SSHDs. Is this (still) true?

If so, will a standard 2tb 7200rpm HDD work without generating too much heat and fan issues?

TIA,

Kevin

You'll be fine with the SSHD drive. It's the SSD drives that has an issue with TRIM enabler. You will need an adapter cable if you have an older Seagate drive as the thermal sensor within the drive needs to be accessed by the system to control the heat.
