iPhone stopped working all the sudden

Never had a problem with my iphone, had been using it all day yesterday. It was charged wnet to reach for it and the screen was black. There is no indication that it is "on", doesnt recieve calls, text etc. I plugged it into the the charger and it does make a beep every 10sec or so. Does anyone have any ideas where to start? I was thinking maybe the battery, but it doesnt seem logical to me that it would just die all of the sudden and not gradually

Does it make the charging sound every 10 seconds or so?

Have you tried holding the home button and lock button to reboot it?

If it's making sounds and the screen is black, and the button combination hasn't worked, it's possible you will need a new LCD. :)

I had a similar issue on an iPad. The screen was blank and it beeped every 10 seconds or so when plugged in. I replaced the LCD and it fixed the problem, so I think that's your most likely solution.
