Need to replace iPhone 5S Home button cable

Hello,

when I opened my iPhone 5S it seems that I broke my Home Button Cable so that after assembling the phone again, the Home Button does not work any more.

Can I buy this part individually or do I have to replace the whole button?

I'd really appreciate if you could tell me which part I have to buy to fix this one.

For a picture of the damaged connector cable, please see the photo attached.

Apple repair for the display assembly is $129 but it may safe your touch ID. I would at least give it a try. https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/rep...

The problem with trying to replace the flex cable is that the cable is tied to the logic board of the iPhone for security purposes. I have not personally soldered a flex cable or connection back together, but others have. I believe there are six connections that must be soldered.

Do you have any instruction available on doing this? I might give it a try.

I do not. A search on the Answer Forums should yield a few results about the subject though.

Keep in mind that replacing the cable will disable Touch ID functions. You may be able to repair the cable by soldering the connections.

So I guess there is no flex cable available that will still support TouchID?

Do you really think that one can repair this by soldering? It seems to be a complicated connector which will surely not work if simply soldered together.

The chip in the home button unit is coded with a matching code on the mother board . If you change home button unit then you will not have touch I'd again . Apple have the equipment to code a new home button to suit the phone , they only normally change as a complete screen unit . This is at a high price and mainly only carried out if the phone hasn't been tampered with.
