How to move chips/components from old motherboard to new bare one?

iphone 5s was water damaged. it will turn on but not restore. a repair shop tried to fix it. the guy confirmed that the motherboard was bad by replacing it with one from a different phone. it restored fine with a different motherboard. Is there a way to test the individual components/chips on the motherboard or is there one of the components that is most likely to have been damaged by the water and I can just replace that piece rather than the whole motherboard?

Answer this question I have this problem too

damian hodges, there is really not a specific component that gets damaged. water damage can affect any part on the board that carries power when it gets submerged. The best thing to do is to properly clean the board with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush (or an ultrasonic cleaner). You need to remove the EMI shields to properly clean it. Then you need to do a visual inspection of the components. Check for missing burned or otherwise damaged looking components. Replace those as well as the battery and the lightning port, then reevaluate.
