Why is my screen black?

I've always babied my phones, and usually get made fun of because I don't go through phones as often as most of my family and friends. However a few weeks ago I was on my phone and when I went to end the call the phone slipped out of my hand and dropped onto the floor probably about 2 1/2 to 3 feet. It had a case and didn't seem to hit the floor very hard, however when I picked it up the phone was black. I tried taking the battery out and doing a soft reset etc with no luck. The phone itself works, if a call comes in, I know where to slide my finger and I can answer the phone and I can hear if a notification comes in, I just can't see anything. I've checked the phone over and there is not a scratch or break on it!! Is this something I may be able to fix? I've taken it to a few repair shops and they've all told me they might be able to fix it for $150-$200, however I don't want to pay that for a maybe fix. I consider myself to be pretty handy when it comes to electronics, if I know, or am told what to do!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Sounds like your display is broken. Usually when the LED panel is damaged in a galaxy s4, it blacks out, exactly what you're experiencing.
