home button not working after replacing display and battery

After replacing the entire display/digitizer unit and the battery, the power, mute and volume functions work as expected, but the home button does not work at all. Shorting the two gold connectors DOES activate the home button function.

I put the old shattered screen back on and now the home button no longer works on it either... what gives? The home button worked fine before installing the replacement screen. Shorting the two gold connectors still activates the home button function.

I appreciate any guidance.

Try prying the little gold contacts up slightly so they are touching the gold pads of the home button .

Puts the bottom left corner of screen down and try home button again also

The problem was that the longer of the little gold contacts is supposed to be bent back toward the bottom of the phone. The spudger must have straightened it out when I opened the phone, causing it to no longer make contact with the gold pads of the home button. I bent the gold contact back and the home button works again.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
