iPhone 3G - WiFi-Problem - antenna problem?

Hi,

my iPhone 3G doesn't find any WiFi network anymore. Apple Support says, that it might be the WiFi-antenna.

How do I repair the antenna?

"it might"... or might not!

first of all - even without an antenna - you should be able to connect to a wi-fi network if you place the iphone beside the router.

if the iphone doesn't find any network - it's not the antenna!

does the iphone show the mac adress in the settings menu? (settings/general/about and then look at wi-fi adress)

Yes, it shows the MAC-adress. Does this mean, it is not the logic board?

im guessing you all updated to 0S4. 0S4 has been causing this problem on a few of my 3G's. List of what to try in the appropriate order:

try ejecting the sim, powering down and rebooting.

go to settings - general - reset - reset network settings

go to settings - general - reset - reset all settings.

toggle your airplane switch on and off (if that does not work turn airplane mode on for 3-5 minutes then switch back)

turn off location services and auto push

do a full restore

if the problem persists, i would just wait a few hours, change wifi locations, and run a restore. if the restore doesn't work right away, wait a while and try again.

downgrade to 3.1.3 if your savvy enough.

*as a very last resort you can always try a hard reset; hold down the power and home button for ten minutes straight.

downgrading to 3.1.3 isn't an option for 99,9% - and the rest will end up with a crappy baseband

yes - if the mac adress is shown - the wifi chipset is ok, i would check the connector and if that is ok, relplace the wifi antenna

Hi, i also have an iPhone 3g with wifi problems. I tried the oven trick twice (first time the oven wasn't hot enough, and got to scared, haha) and the second time i got wifi running for about 2 days. After 2 days i intermittently got wifi access. Sometimes I just couldn't find any networks at all, and then all of a sudden i could, with 3 bars connectivity... I checked connector 6, but i don't think there's anything wrong with that. I also have a wi-fi-adress, this is the same as amac-adress right? Could this mean i have to replace the wifi antenna? Would that fix it for me?

I'd appreciate your opinion! thanks in advance!
