Water damage - What to test?

Been given an iphone 6 to look at for water damage, but it has been left to sit for a couple of weeks before getting to me, so there is rust and some evidence of corrosion on the flex cable connections.

Is this worth even taking apart? I know first steps would be to clean everything with isopropyl. But what else can I do after that and it doesn't work?

Thanks
