What to do when installing new proximity sensor?

There is 2 small flaps on the lower left side on the buttom of the cable. Do i just bend them and tape them?

it looks like some gold plated plug that needs some kind op contact? i have not been able to find an really good tutorial anywhere on this issue?

pleas help. I can not get this phone to work.... :-(
