Screen brightness a problem following replacement

Hi guys,

After smashing my laptop screen the other day, I ordered a replacement from eBay, the screen saying it was the exact same model number as my original one (LP173WD1)(LT)(A2). After it arrived it turned out they had shipped a screen with model number B173RW01 and although it worked I could not change the screen brightness.

So I ordered from a different website, hoping for the correct and fully functional model. The site I ordered from were out of stock so instead they shipped a screen with model number LP173WD1(LT)(E1), thinking it would be compatible- but unfortunately I still can't change the screen brightness.

Does anyone have any advice on:

a) Do I need new software to make the screen compatible,

b) Does the model number need to be the EXACT same, or should the second one I tried (E1) work okay?

Thanks in advance.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Check our model numbers. It is possible that your first gouping could be (TL) instead of (LT)?

(LP173WD1)(TL)(A2) and LP173WD1(TL)(E1)share most of the same characteristics. The connection are identical, so that should not be the issue. You did not tell us what your backlight does. Is it high, low, non-existing?

it could be fault of new LCD or LCD back light driving software or Motherboard.

1) update the windows or your operating system and check

2) or try to update graphic driver

3) check the LCD doc connector is properly connect to the motherboard

4) try with different hardware to determine which part is faulty (LCD or Motherboard)
