It's better to upgrade old MBP or buy new one?

Hi! Before I start: sorry for poor english- I'm not native speaker :)

I have MBP Early 2011 with 2.3Ghz i5. Since my AppleCare has end I've been upgrading my MPB to be more fast. I've installed Samsung Evo 840 SSD, added RAM (now it has 6GB; 2GB+4GB and I want to expand it to 12GB/16GB). 3 months ago I replace battery on new one. I was wondering if I can change my processor but now I know I can't but... What if I change logic board? Is it possible to replace board with 2.3GHz CPU on board with 2.7GHz? MPB early 2011 was released with two processors and I can get one with i7 2.7Ghz for six-pack of Corona (it's no joke- I'm dead serious :D ) and I wan't to know if I can replece these parts. Also I want to ask if logic boards from newer MPB than my Mac also fit in and if they do: which one?

I know that my idea of upgrading 4-year old computer is silly but I think this Mac is better than current ones? Exaple? I work as music/video maker. Sometimes i plug guitar into my Mac's audio port; in settings I can decide if this port is outlet or inlet port. My friend's MPB Retina 2013 can't do this. You see, I preffer spend some time on searching good and cheap parts than spend 1000$+ on new computer which isn't in 50% good as the old one :)

loking forward for reply and have a nice day!

Beniamin :)

Ok firstly microphone in and guitar in are totally different impedances. If you are plugging guitar directly into mic in on any laptop it will sound terrible; get a proper interface!

Secondly if you use this 2011 motherboard regularly for anything intensive it will die. Apple only covers repairing it until February 2016. It is a ticking time bomb, sell it for whatever you can get before it dies and move on.

See here for more info. https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro...

You can always put an 820-3330 board in yours for a very small bump in performance if you don't mind dealing with jerry rigging the LCD cable, but you're still stuck with the low resolution LCD this thing comes with.

His AppleCare appears to have already ended.

Although this is a nice machine, it's still an entry level one, not really meant for expansion. I think you would be much happier with a professional machine like a 2012 Mac Pro or earlier. You really pay for that portability. Something like this or faster: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ma...
