How do I install my airport extreme card?

I have a card installed and have been able to access the internet via wireless internet, but when I reinstalled mac os x airport isn't even in internet connect options. I took the card out and then put it back in and the internet connect is still saying, " no airport hardware found".

Hard wire it to your router or modem and see if it connects.
