Switch Boot Drive to the new SSD location with Dual Hard Drive Kit

After adding a second drive will I be able to switch which dive the iMac boots from? If I can is there a down side to booting from the second drive?

Yes, you can alter which drive is the boot up drive once you install the OS on the SSD.

To alter it you'll need to open the System Preferences settings. In the fourth grouping you should see a drive icon marked Startup Disk Open it up you'll then be greeted with a listing of the bootable volumes available. Click on your SSD drive and then restart. Thats it! From now on the SSD drive will be the primary drive.
