iPhone 5 battery replacement now reboots problem

I just replaced the battery in my iPhone 5. It was quite hard to remove the old battery. Now my phone does not take a charge and reboots every few minutes. Could this be a bad battery. I may have nicked one of the black lines under the battery not sure if this contains a wire. Please help.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Old battery got damaged upon removal. - Possibly Nicked cable looked like it could be a ribbon cable - but it is black flat and glued to iphone under adhesive at top of battery .

Also forgot to mention that battery charging symbol appears but no battery %.
