Hot liquid spill, no power immediately
I splashed some hot coffee over top middle of my keyboard, my computer immediately shut down. No light on the charger and the battery charge lights won't turn on.
I quickly dried the liquid on top and turned it over, it seemed to pour out. I took off the back cover and only saw liquid in the fan so I unattached and dried that area. Still no lights or power.
Mac store said it would have to be sent away and would cost almost as much as a new computer just to determine parts and fix it. They also thought after my description that it was the logic board.
I decided to dismantle the logic board and check for damage. Couldn't tell if anything had been damaged at all, it seemed dry and very dusty. I even tried to smell it for the coffee and couldn't detect that it had any like my keyboard does.
So how can I be sure if it is my logic board or could it be the keyboard/power button? Or could it be something else entirely?
Is this a good question?
Leigha, you can't be sure. Since you have it disassembled, clean it with high grade 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush first. Double check all your components and reevaluate.
