This video is helpful, but it seems they've already pre-separated the glass prior to making this video. They show it being MUCH easier than it really is, and the wire just 'slicing' the LOCA (Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive) without any effort. This is misleading, and probably why they disabled comments in the video.

Direct lcd replacement is far easier, but expensive.

The glass, is mcuh cheaper to do, but difficult to start. If you have a heat gun, get a temperature reader, if you end up buying an lcd, you might as well try it, I have a heat plate for mine (this is a side line for me), and I keep the glass at 75 Celsius.

Then use something very thin to start at the top, if you got it warm enough, you will see the glue pull away. I then switch to one of those windows razor blades which is filed down, this covers the whole screen when prying. Heat a little and push, heat and push.

then when you get to the bottom, careful of the softkeys.

With the glass off, the remaining LOCA will rub off with your fingers!!

Then follow the rest of the videos to apply LOCA

On ebay uk, you can buy really cheap sets, which include razor blades, alcohol wipes, lcd cloth, uv pen light, loca, wire. All for £12. This is cheap stuff though.

But if you feel you need to buy the whole lcd anyway. Give it a shot!

I have been involved in phone repair for around 10 years and never opt to separate LCD and digitizer as it can be more hassle than its worth far better just replacing the whole lot in my opinion

For the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 the LCD Assembly is currently $200 at it's cheapest. The Glass only is under $15. An hour MAX repair (closer to 30 minutes) and you've just saved yourself $185 just in part difference. Glass-Only van be a very cost effective option to replacing the full display panel.

HI, have a pair of S3 with broken glass. I did manage to get the glass off a water damaged s4 mini and in the process found that the oled is somewhat transparent once you take the heat spreader off! It's worth noting that if glass ok but display borked then ribbon transplant is possibly feasible. It's very hard but if you have the right tools and nerves of steel...
