Replacing HD for SSD

I'm considering replacing my HDD with a SSD, and/or swapping out my malfunctioning optical drive while I am in there with either an HDD or a SSD. But I keep seeing this comment from iFixit saying that I need to replace my hard drive with the same brand as what was originally installed. No issue if I am going with HDDs, but I don't see SSDs from Toshiba out there. Anyone know if that brand consistency matters for a SSD?

Depending on the series you may need to add-in a replacement thermal sensor to offset the removal of the one within your HD if you swap them.

If you use the dual drive kit replacing your optical drive with a SSD then you don't need to worry.

You may want to consider swapping out your HD with a SSHD which is a hybrid drive. Both Seagate & Western Digital make 3.5" SSHD's.
