Which CPU would work in a Mac Mini A1176?

I have an old Mac Mini A1176 that I'd like to upgrade. Which CPUs can I put in it? on ifixit page "2GHz Core 2 Duo processor" is identified. But are there different 2GHz Core 2 Duo out there? Any insight is appreciated.

Wrong! socket M is what this Mac mini has.

So you can swap until T7600, always look for T7400 or T7600, performance will boots up.

Also you can upgrade ram with 2+2 Gb ram DDR2 667Mhz.

Update: after 8 years, my mac mini still performs superb.

I have updated firmware from macmini 1,1 to macmini 2,1 to use all ram possible, 2+2 gb ddr2 667Mhz --> google it, it´s so easy.

Next upgrade: ssd.

as Mer says, your Mac mini has socket M, and for best performance use the T7600 it has 4Mo - L2 cache / 2,33 Ghz and support 64bits (recommnded for futur Mac OS X), but the mac mini 1.1 don't control the fan speed very well you have to use to control the fan speed by yourself. DOWNLOAD it here: SMC fan control

SMC Fan Control is made by eidac.de: http://www.eidac.de/?p=243 (v2.4, Lion) or http://www.eidac.de/?p=180 (v2.2.2, Snow Leopard)
