Internal monitor will not display booted os

I have a mbp that will not show a anything on the screen after anything boots, but it will display to an external monitor. The apple boot screen appears on it but nothing after that. I have done a clean install, i have done an PR reset, and nvram reset and smc reset, tried booting os installs from external volumes. The when you look into the about this mac, and more information display screen it only recognizes the external monitor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That the external works fine indicates a problem with the internal display chain, not the GPU/VGC or logic board (good news)... if the unit has been dropped, crushed or wet it may be any of a number of those parts in the chain.

More history about the first appearance of this problem would be helpful. In addition shining a light through the back may show a faint desktop which would point to backlight issues such as a bad inverter.
