Is my power supply shot?

Okay well we lost power the other day for about 6 hours, my iMac was on at the time, but I wasn't home. Power came back on but my computer wouldn't.

Power strip and outlet are fine. I took off the case to check out the LED's and only the 1st one is lighting up.

I get no response what so ever from the power button. Nor anything from holding it down for a minute, while unplugged, and plugging it back in.

I'm not very tech savvy, so I'm kind of confused why the 1st LED is lit while plugged in (which is the power supply indicator), but would need a new supply?

I mean either way, if a new power supply will fix the problem, then it's fine with me. I just wanted to make sure before I ordered one.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

LED #1 is sort of a pilot light. It tells you trickle current is present (it's on even when the machine is off - as long as there's mains power it lights). Current is going into the PSU, but apparently not coming out.

So would a new power supply fix it?

No guarantee. It would be the necessary first step to finding out if that's all that was blown.

Okay so I decided to get a better look at the psu before I ordered a new one. Here's some pictures.

Nothing obvious to me (ie busted and leaking caps are about the extent of my knowledge haha). Still need replacing? or just not able to know?
