How to connect iPhone 5 bluetooth to MBP

I have a macbook pro late 2011 with os x lion 10.7.5 and iphone 5 os 8.1 I can not connect iphone to MBP via bluetooth it works fine with ipad minis and samsung phones but won't work with iphones. Is there a app or hack to make this work or a bluetooth adapter that you can use.
