Start and Select button replacement

So my start and select buttons cracked, no problem went and got a set from my local repair store for $5, now the problem I'm having is that when I install these new black start and select buttons, both like to get stuck down after I press them once and they don't go back up. My home button does not do this even with the replacement button. Any ideas?

I was actually just having the same problem, which is how I ended up stumbling upon your question. After a lot of frustration, I realized that the two little tabs on the rear of the button were being blocked from sliding all the way into their receptacles because a little bit of plastic had bent to block the opening. Once the openings were cleared the button worked properly again.

Just make sure there's nothing blocking the slots circled in red.

Haha, I know the feeling. I nearly drove myself mad spending hours trying to reseat the buttons over and over again before I realized this.
