Compatible WiFi/Bluetooth replacement parts?

I have a Mid 2011 MacBook Air that I just updated to 10.10 Yosemite. The biggest reason that I updated day 1 is for the Handoff features to get texts/calls on my laptop. System Information shows that I have Bluetooth LE, however it shows that Handoff is not supported. I was wondering if anyone knows if a WiFi/Bluetooth card from another MacBook would work in a 2011 MBA and if it will support Handoff or if there is something else that is missing that is preventing this from working. I'm going to try to pay the local Apple Store a visit tomorrow and see what they say.

Options

According to the catalog you can put a '12 card in your box.

You cannotput a '13 cardin it.

Study the guide & notes (not just read it). purchase the proper tools.

This has nothing to do with the chipsets, unfortunately. MBA 2011 has absolutely the same Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chipsets as MBA 2012 and Handoff works just fine there. It is a marketing decision from Apple.

That's kind of what I was seeing, however I wasn't sure if the replacement cards were the same and there was some minor difference in the stock chips or Apple was just forcing an upgrade early. It's a shame because this laptop still works flawlessly and I've only had it 3 years.
