Possible for glass only replacement

Hi

Been given a surface pro with broken glass to look at, but can't really find anything on glass only replacements.

Is the LCD/digitiser fused together?

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Here are two links to part you are looking for.

If you are in the UK then its safe to order from USA and sometimes faster delivery than buying from just down the road here in UK.

I dont know if the screen and digitiser are glued and part costs are very high and ripe for "high cost no profit hack-up" if your not very careful.

Ok thanks

By the looks of it, I'll just have to tell my friend I'll open it up, and take it from there! Ive already said it's not the best repair to do, and if it's fused together, he'll just buy a new one.

What ever the outcome, I'll post back for info!!!!

If it is just glass, I can get that for £30 here in the UK.

If it's LCD, might see if it's worth getting shipped over as you said.

As mentioned in my post, an update. After being given the go ahead, I started on this earlier. And managed to seperate the glass from the lcd from about an hour of heating and prying.

I'm just waiting for a charger now to see if the heat has affected the lcd.

If not, I will then attempt to bond the glass to the lcd!!!!!!! A bit bigger than what im used to!

There was some light scratches on the lcd, but from experience, the loca will cover this up!

I will keep you posted!

Were you ever able to get the unit back together & working? Can you give some more detail on what you did to accomplish the "glass only" replacement, as this is what I'm about to try. thanks in advance!

I powered it up, and found there was slight heat damage on a section of the lcd, and that's where I was using a heat gun instead of my heat plate.

This glue is tough mind, once the screen is off, it's like the aftermarket OCA which is on the iPhone 4 screens.

It'll be lining up the lcd after when trying to bond it. If you're go

in to tackle it, set aside a few hours!
