Tap on the word 'Name' and the keyboard appears. Same for number, tap on the word phone or number and the number keyboard appears. Too simple for the experts to answer.

Thank's a lot a have the same problem too

Problem is not solved with above answer.

ditto

ty for the obvious answer on how it should work however when one speaks of an iphone 5 you can reasonably assume that there may have been a few hundred times that it has functioned as designed and that these queries are not the result of an extremely loud and belligerently aromatic brain fart.

Too simple for experts to answer?

Thanks for the case in point but it wasn't the question or answer that was simple.

'''A hard reset can cure some of the problems.

I found that if you have bluetooth enabled - it is trying to reference another device.

Go to settings - turn the bluetooth off.

Restart the phone and problem should be resolved.'''

I posted this question. The Verizon store did a total turn off and then restart by holding down the sleep/wake button at the same time as the button at the bottom of the screen. After a few seconds they turned it back on and when it booted up the problem was fixed.

Hi - I had this problem on my iPhone 5s. I tried to fix it several times by turning the phone off. That did NOT fix the problem until I first turned off Bluetooth. Then it worked. Thank You!

I had the same problem. All it took was shutting the phone off, waiting a minute and turning it back on.

You might also have this issue i just experienced. Double click your home button and if there is a blue-million windows opened, then close them all. For some reason it seems that there is a “Limit” as to how many windows can use the keyboard at one time. Not sure what that limit is, but if there are too many windows opened, you might lose some functionality.

Good Luck!
