Why is my iPhone 4s Screen is Unresponsive?

I cracked my iPhone 4s screen right on the front camera. It would still show a picture, but touch was unresponsive except in a small section of the bottom right hand corner. Ordered a new screen, that came in a pretty sketchy condition. Went ahead with installing it only to see that touch doesn't work over the entire screen. What could be the possible problems with my phone.

Options

Make sure the cables are fully press down on the motherboard if they are then it's most likly a faulty screen

Thanks, I checked the screen and it turned out there was a slight rip in one of the cables.
