Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist: 2

I recently upgraded my computer to Mavericks. Now when I

start the computer it remains on the white screen with the apple logo. When I start the machine in verbose mode it gives me the following error:

BootCacheControl: Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist: 2 No such file or directory

Any ideas?

I had the same problem and this at least got me going somewhere. I can see most of my data is still accessible and the disk is not dead as I initially thought. But the specific file suggested for removal here was not present at all on my disk.

`rm /etc/launchd.conf` says, "No such file or directory". Would qppreciate any other possible suggestions. Thank you so much!
