What would cause Home button to work and not TouchID?

I replaced the screen for an iPhone 5S and used the original home button for the device. Now the home button is working, but when you go to set up touchID, it starts the process and then immediately says "TouchID setup failed".

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

This would probably be some bent pins or dirt in the connector itself.

I would try cleaning and checking the cable which connect this hardware to the motherboard.

Did all of that. The end of the cable that connects to the motherboard that needs to be covered, is that the fingerprint sensor? And is the back part of that (the part that gets covered) is that a circuit. The only thing I am thinking is I may have scratched that. Everything else looks fine. It's really odd since the actual home button is working, so I am thinking it's not a connection issue.
