Superdrive Issues And Compatibility Questions

Ive got a Penryn MacBook (A1181, 2.4Ghz, Black PolyCarb Case) and I was wondering if the superdrive from my MacBook A1278 (2.0Ghz Unibody) is compatible with the one my Penryn uses.

The reason im asking is that the Drive on my Penryn(A1181) is dead. It does not load or eject, is totally unresponsive, and makes a whirring sound periodically. it shows up in disk utility but other than that i can in no way acces it. Ive tried everything I can find on here, Apple Help, and many many other sites and nothing has worked. all I can figure is that the drive is shot. either the motor or the lazer.

ive got an extra Superdrive that fits my A1278 and i was wondering if that same drive (and the SATA Cable) are compatable with the Penryn.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

No, as you can see on the product page, they are incompatible. You can, however, get any of these here.
