What is the little gold push button on the back case? (picture)

What is the little gold push button under the main board on the back case of the iPhone 3G right under the "Do Not Remove" sticker?

It is circled in green in the picture.

My best guess is it detects weather or not the phone has been taken apart (especially since it's located right under the "Do Not Remove" sticker) so that Apple will know to void your warranty.

I can't really see it, but from your description, its just a part of the antenna. If you go here and go to step 12, you'll see the same thing and those are pressure contacts connecting the antennas to the logic board.

Its gold most likely because its the best at conducting.

I don't disagree with your answer, but Gold is used for these things because it doesn't corrode. It is a good conductor, but not as good as silver or copper. But silver and copper corrode. That's why these things are often only gold plated.

Hmm... I thought gold was the best conductor? I'll take your word for it!

Oh I didn't mean that I don't believe you! It makes perfect sense and I never thought about it like that. But thanks for the source!
