I have a time capsule without hard drive.

Can I set up an outside hard-drive I have inside or I have to use it with USB port of time capsule

Are you sure you have a Time Capsule Vs an AirPort Extreme?

Both look alike (same case & ports on the outside). The Extreme model is missing parts internally to support the HD the Capsule model has.

If you have an Extreme unit it's not worth the effort in locating all of the needed parts to converting it over to a Capsule unit.
