How to remove backplate protecting trackpad

I opened the laptop and successfully removed the batteries and the steel pad protecting the trackpad I can see the trackpad but it's protected by a back plate that I cannot remove

Review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2013 Trackpad Replacement. While the guide is the previous model the trackpad is the same in yours.

Why did you need to pull it out? Your system most likely is still under warranty.
