Will iPhone 5 work without small washers under the charging port?

Lightning port and headphonee jack was replaced with a part from IFIXIT. After re-assembly, phone will not charge. Put old part back in and it will not charge either. Was charging before but only if pressure was applied to end.

I've tried several working cables and have followed directions. No parts were broken, but two of the small washers went missing. I replaced with aluminum foil. Please help. I've watched several replacement videos, and none discusses these washers. Are they the problem?

The iPhone should still charge without these washers in place, can confirm the washers have nothing to do with the current.

I'm not sure what the problem you are facing as you say you have tried multiple dock connectors, the only thing I can think of is you have damaged the plug on the logic board.

Was the battery draining really fast before you changed the dock connector as there is a known problem with some iPhone 5 units that the battery drains really fast, it will charge when it has battery but if the battery runs out it will not charge.

Does the phone turn on or display the battery symbol on the screen?

The battery did not run out exceptionally quick and yes the phone will turn on for now. The logic board is not visually damaged. What are my options if this is the case?
