Wifi not working properly

Wifi works only if I'm in 5m radius with router (any).

Whereas at home, it works perfectly fine with all my other devices.

Is my airport card at fault or the airport cable which connects the hardware at fault??

Software: I've already tried (reinstalling OS X) but problem persists.

What should I do?

I would start by getting a good WiFi monitoring app. Here's one thats free from the Apps Store: Wireless Signal. I like this one but its not free it'll set you back all of a buck ;-} WiFi Signal. See what they tell you.

I suspect you have other conflicting AP's around you so the given band you are using is not ideal. See if you can alter to the 5.0 MHz band from the 2.4 MHz band. You may also need to alter your AP's channel/s.

I'll try it but I don't think this is going to work....

Coz this issue could be considerable if this problem was confined to my home n/w only...

Macbook shows same issue...if I try at some other place as well

I think...it's something to do with the hardware...

Thanks.....and please reply me back

If it was a system hardware problem then the issue would be present at both locations and it would not effect both of your systems. The location's Access Point (AP) which is the other side of the wireless connection is the issue here. As you stated it was a problem at multiple locations but worked without a problem at home leads me to a signal issue. Post the snapshot of what the app shows you at both locations.

Can you pull the bottom cover off and inspect the antenna leads that come from the lid assembly? Did one of the connectors pop off. Also did you bang your system (dented).
