Good first device to fix

I'm looking into fixing macbook pros and selling them on ebay.

It seems like a lot of water damage just affects the main logic board. I've seen companies that will fix this for as little as $75.

So how do you spot a good one to buy? Is it best to fix yourself or outsource. At the rates those guys charge they surely don't replace the main logic board.

Any links to good buys on ebay would be appreciated.

Sorry we're not here to do your research for you.

You'll need to find your own leads to used gear as well as find reliable people to send your logic boards to for repair (hopefully someone local to you).

Sadly, cleaning the board is not the only thing one needs to do. Often the small SMD devices are damaged and need replacing. So you'll need the schematics and component layouts of the different series of systems you will be working on. Then you'll need to find the components which is not easy! Don't forget the test gear, tools and the skills aspect here.

Most of these folks have gone to school learning microelectronics and computer hardware repair. I would start there.

Check out youtube and see how others are repairing it. Sometimes you just have to clean the board and it may work or as Dan above said you may have to replace components. If that is the case you need to learn how to test components and be able to replace them. A decent soldering station is a must along with good testing gear and a lot of patience. A schematic/layout isn't completely necessary but it does help and usually will make testing much quicker.
