Screen goes on and off until I apply pressure to left speaker?

When I turn my MacBook Pro on the screen will go on and off until I apply pressure to the left speaker. The system is running fine and continues to work without issues. I looked inside and there are a couple of screws missing from the case so I ordered them.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? Many Thanks

You are pressing on the LDVS cable connection to the logic board. Open the machine up and reseat the connection. Use some kaptan tape to help hold it in place.

Is it possible the screws which were missing are still loose inside shorting something. Can you tell us what screws you had to replace.

I have the same problem on a MBP 5,1 (late 2008). The sweat spot I have to press is right on the left of the caps lock key. I was suspecting LVDS cable too but the cable is very close to the monitor and don't go near the caps lock key.

I try to disconnect and reconnect LVDS cable but got no luck so far. I might try to remove the logic board to see on the other side.

Let me know if you find a solution for this. Thanks!
