Cannot erase format install OS
Old hard drive failed. Ordered new Toshiba 320 GB hard drive and installed. Attempted to install OS X on new drive. Cannot erase or partition drive. I get the error: Cannot Allocate Memory.
Is this a good question?

Check your SATA cable connections - it's possible you may need to replace the SATA cable if you damaged it taking out the old HDD.
If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

Thanks... I was very careful with the cable during the fix....but I have ordered new cable. We'll see what happens. Hoping, at this point, that it was/is a bad cable originally...that way I end up with an extra HDD.
It could be - others have reported that sequence of events... if you have an extra working drive you can not return put it in an external case and use it as a backup drive.
