Dropped & screen is cracked

I dropped my Ipad Mini. Not very smart when it comes to these devices. What do I need to buy to fix the screen?

Tom,

For the iPad mini the replacement glass screen, aka digitizer, comes in two flavors.

1.) A plug and play option---which is described as "iPad mini digitizer with touchscreen ic and presoldered home flex"

2.) A 'glass only option' --which requires you to desolder and transfer the original touchscreen ic and home flex from your cracked digtizer.

I'll also add that a couple of idiots on eBay actually sell glass only which is a useless piece of glass that is not even a digitizer for the same price as a digitizer.

iPad mini screen replacement is hated by many repair shops--those suckers can give you a lot of problems. Make sure to read up on this repair before you begin to try--there can be a lot of pitfalls---especially cracking the LCD on disassembly, blowing the backlight fuse, removing pins from the digitizer connector on the motherboard, and digitizer ghosting.

Nevertheless, this repair is do-able as a DIY project---on this one it will definitely pay off to do a little more research than usual.

The picture looks ok. I think the screen is just cracked. So all I need to purchase is the glass digitizer? Is that a glass type front that slips on?
