First download and run Coconut battery just to see where it's at: http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

Next reset the SMU:

Unplug the computer's power cord.

Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.

Release the power button.

Attach the computers power cable.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Let us know the results and we'll go from there.

I did what you suggested. Then Release the power button.Attach the computers power cable. All with the battery attached and the computer turned on with no problem. Then I tried to turned it on only with the battery on and the screen went black and nothing on it, the battery is 100% charged. Any more advice?

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

I did the test with coconutbattery and all is ok and it is charge100% but still the computer doesn't work with the battery only.

What else could I do to solve this problem? Thanks so much for all your help and advice.

Zap the PRAM next, here's how and look at the answer from rdkl: iBook won't power on after attempted PMU reset

If you jump around I won't be able to find you. If you zapped the PRAM then try starting in "Safe Mode" by holding down the "shift key" when starting up. Remember I'm working blind here and trusting that you are doing as instructed. Sometimes we have to try a lot of things and there are work arounds to many problems. Hang in there, you are in good hands and there are a lot of experts here to help you. If I tell you something wrong, be very assured someone will chime in quickly to correct me, but I've done this for over 30 years and seldom give up on a problem. Don't panic.

Hi, thanks for your help I just tried starting in "Safe Mode" by holding down the "shift key" when starting up but did not help. I continue seeing the apple display only on a persistent gray screen with a spinning gear below. Thanks again for the help I am thankful for your wiliness to share your knowledge and 30 years of experience rarely giving up on a problem.
