Why won't my tablet's screen respond to touch?

My tablet is on, but I am unable to use it because my touchscreen is not working. I tried resetting my tablet, but when I turned it back on, my screen was still not responding to touch. Why won't my tablet's screen respond to touch?

my tablet developed this same problem after I dropped it. I suspect something inside has come lose, or maybe broken. I found another site that recommended steps like doing a hard reset by holding the volume up and down at the same time and pressing the power button. I tried this and it gave me the option of starting normally or going into recovery mode. unfortunately my screen was still unresponsive so I suspect its the something lose or broken problem and I have to replace my tablet

This hard reset worked for me. Holding volume button and power. Thanks. ;-)

Hey Aaron,

The problem could be as simple as an interfering screen protector. Try removing your screen protector or device case and see if the touch screen will work then.

Since you already reset your device and it didn't work, try replacing your screen. You may have a faulty screen and digitizer, which is why your device won't respond to touch.

If all else fails, replace your motherboard. This is the main component of your device that deals with all of its functions, and if you have tried all of these solutions, then your device should start working again. Check out our troubleshooting page for more information on your device's problems!

but what if it does work but only some parts in the screen doesn't and what if the keyboard doesn't respond when you click on a letter

by

Rubbish. That means you are losing screen functionality. Your screen may be using a large percentage of your battery. The Android OS (operating system ) on your device should not be using more than 12% of your battery. Although I realise you are unable to check. When you device has been in while place the palm of your hand on the front and back of your device, if it is not then you will Need a replacement screen but don't do this yourself as you will void the warranty

by

Try this. it work for my tablet.

It it the battery head problem. use some paper to top up the battery connector cover back. it will compress the head. it is fix. for screen on and off.

2) screen not function - try this. add some paper to the centre on the motherboard. it will compress when u cover it back. it work for me. tq.

hope this will help you guys.

My screen was broken so I installed a new screen. The screen does come on but it will not allow me to unlock the tablet. The screen seems totally unresponsive. I was able to take my finger across the screen and get to another screen but not the one that has my apps. I thought it might be my screen saver because it had bubbles under it, so I took if off and still cannot get to my home screen or unlock the tablet. I have a Dragon Touch A1X ten inch tablet. It worked great until the screen was broken and I had to replace it.

Try holding down the home button

i had this same problem on 2 different tab s2's here is what i figured out......

the trick i found out is to not put your tablet in power save mode, my buddy had his in power save mode and the touch would not be responsive after we locked the screen, so we exchanged it (of course we didnt know this was the issue at 1st) and got a new one and did the same thing, initially reading on here and trying all these other "Solutions" i thought it was apps he was installing.. deleted those and nothing...so i see his tablet is in Power Save Mode and i turn it off...and WALA!!!! it worked, no problems with it now it works fine....i mean we have a volume down key issue but its not too too big of a deal... but i really hope this helps you guys, i was really annoyed with customer service, they didnt help at all, they just pointed me to a sevice technition in my area, and they will charge you, i forwarded this info to thier head of quality control with my info hopefully they can get back to me to help the later versions with this problem, its a very nice and amazing tablet when its working :)

how do you turn off the power save mode when you can't get the screen to respond and it's locked it won't even accept the swipe to open?

by

"To force reboot your device, press and hold the Volume down and Power/Lock keys on the device for 10-20 seconds. This performs a simulated battery disconnect." This worked for me today after turning on the power save mode last night. Everything is back to normal now.

by

I did this on my husband's tablet -- turned off the Power Save Mode, rebooted and the touchscreen started working again. Thanks for the advice!! He is very happy again!!!

by

Your great man... Your answer Help me... Thanks a lot

by

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Pressing and holding volume down and Power keys worked just brilliantly. I wonder why this happened to my tabS now, after more than a year working on power saving mode and never having a slightest problem. I also noticed that when the screen was non responsive the tablet would not charge.

Wow what rude responses for this question. If the touch does not work after the reset you tried and there is not a screen protector on it, I would replace the screen. The screen on the Galaxy Tab 3 is not a difficult one to swap out. If you need any help doing it, there are guides on this site for you. Hope you find the fix.

So you replaced non cracked screen and it works again ?

My screen was broken but it worked. I place a new one and it work couple of months but now it doesn't. I think I will try with another replacement.

We have an Asus tablet that first had intermittent touchscreen problems such as non responsive areas on the screen and ghost touches. All the factory resets and software updates did not help at all. We bought and installed the new digitizer screen - no change.

Cause:

bad contact of the digitizer ribbon cables due to the loose latches.

Advise that finally helped:

cut a piece of film (like the film used to protect the screen) to the size of the digitizer cable and insert it on top of the ribbon cable into the same slot.

The problem seems to be common across all manufacturers.

Say this in a different way I don't follow the advice. I have replaced my digitizer and then whole LCD and still no touch response. The film holds the ribbon cable into its receptacle?

Same thing happened to me here is my solution. 1. Do a force rest by pressing both volume buttons and lock button. After rest your screen will still 'lock up' again if you lock your screen so be careful. 2. Do a update of your tablet. This fixed my problem. However I did not drop my tablet. It was a operating error.

In my case, it was faulty microSD reader inside the phone. Try unplugging the microSD.
