Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Troubleshooting

Something about your Galaxy Tab needs fixing? Look no farther!

Tablet Doesn't Turn On ¶

No matter what you do, you can't get your tablet to turn on.

Press and Hold the Wake/Sleep Button ¶

If this does not resolve your problem, read on!

Check If Battery Will Charge ¶

First, connect your tablet to the power adapter. Hopefully the tablet will recognize the charger and begin to recharge the battery. If it does not, the battery may be defective and need to be replaced.

Faulty Display ¶

If you determined that the battery was working, it is possible that the display is broken. If no light or images are visible, but the tablet has power, then the display may need to be replaced.

Bad Logic Board ¶

If none of the previous solutions solved your problem, check all of the connections from the display to the logic board. If the device still does not turn on, the logic board in your device most likely needs to be replaced.

Screen Doesn't Respond to Touch ¶

Nothing happens when I touch my screen.

Screen protector/tablet case interferes with the touchscreen ¶

Try removing your screen protector or case from the device, and test the touchscreen again.

Caution: Some screen protectors may not reapply properly.

Perform a Soft Reset ¶

A soft reset restarts your device and does not erase any of your content or data. Begin by pressing and holding the Power key until your device turns off. Wait a moment, then press and hold the Power key to turn your device back on.

Bad Touch Screen ¶

The touch screen may be bad and need replacement. The front panel (which includes the touchscreen and digitizer) should be replaced.

Bad Logic Board ¶

If the problem persists, the logic board may need to be replaced.

Tablet Overheats ¶

Tablet is too hot to touch!

Reset the Device ¶

Hold down the power button until the device shuts off. Let it cool down for a few minutes, then hold the power button until the device powers on.

Bad Battery ¶

If the device continues to heat up, the battery is most likely defective and needs replacement. Purchase a replacement battery, and replace the old with the new.

Tablet Performs Slowly ¶

Safely Remove Your SD Card ¶

From the home screen, tap the Menu key, then tap Settings. Once in Settings, scroll to and tap Storage. In Storage, scroll to and tap Unmount SD card, then tap OK. You can now safely remove the SD card.

Perform a Soft Reset ¶

A soft reset restarts your device and does not erase any of your content or data. Begin by pressing and holding the Power key until your device turns off. Wait a moment, then press and hold the Power key to turn your device back on.

Close or Uninstall Applications ¶

In the Power Usage dashboard, tap Battery Usage. Next, tap the application you want to close or uninstall.

  • To close (turn off) an application, tap Force stop.
  • To uninstall (remove from device) an application, tap App info, Uninstall, and then OK.

Verify That Your Tablet is Running the Most Recent Software ¶

Begin by tapping the System Updates dashboard. Next, tap Device Software, then tap Check now. If an update is available, follow the prompts to install.

Tablet Doesn't Produce Sound ¶

No audio from headphones, speakers, or tablet itself.

Bad Headphones/Speakers ¶

Check to make sure your playback method isn't the problem. Check all speaker connections and test headphones on another functioning device. If the problem is not resolved, your tablet may be the issue.

Software ¶

First try a full restore on the tablet to make sure it is not an issue with the software.

Bad Audio Jack ¶

If the problem is still not resolved, try replacing the audio jack. If that doesn't solve the problem, your logic board most likely needs replacement.

My screen is cracked & the display has lines It can't be used. Is it just the digitizer or something else?

shelldogs - Reply

When you say the display has lines. Do you mean that if you try to look at a picture a whole line is of dead pixels?

So my tablet is stuck on the loading screen I guess. it says samsung and just stays there. I've tried to hard reset but it doesn't even let me do it, it just restarts when I try to do it. I've also took out the battery and put it back in, and I have let the battery die all the way then charge it to full battery and it is still being retarded. I need help....

Exactly my issue. Tried using the three button menu screen during reboot and it only comes up with a software update. But I can't update software because I have to connect it to the Internet and I can't connect to the Internet because I can't get the tablet to open. I did a software update a year ago and the stupid f*king thing hasn't worked since. I should be happy I guess. I got about 10 hours of use out of it.

My sons galaxy tab 3 had the charging port replaced. Since then no level of sound comes from the speakers or the head phone. Does anyone know where on the logic board the speaker points are? I'm assuming from some solder got on the connections when the new charging port was soldered on. Any suggestions?

Have a tab 3. Wouldn't charge so they sent me a replacement. The new devise screen locks up and is unresponsive. They have had me send it to their insurance company 3 times and they return it with a new sim card, even though the ladt time they said they would replace it.

Samsung tried to tell me i had a virus and wanted to sell me a monthly service contracy, and then they would clean it.

Sprint sent me to a repair center. He showed me how to reboot. Said to try it at least 4 times. If I'm still having trouble vome back.

So it hasnt worked for 6 months. One guy said it was old and I dhould upgrade.

Im so fed up, waisted countless hours on the phone and standing in the sprint store. Its still under contract and insured.. big deal it is useless to me. At this point Im done with Samsung and Sprint. When my contract is done Im moving on.

Anybody suggest a better device. I also have a galaxy note cell and am having alot of problems with it too.

I have a Samsung galaxy tab 3 lite SM - T110 which until recently was able to read a usb with converter, but now it's not even registering that anything is connected. I have tried using usb and connector on other devices, including Samsung's, and they work fine so it's jot them. I have tried turning on and off, I have rebooted, I have allowed usb debugging, all with no luck. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks, Laura

I have a tab 3 for 2 years now, the first year was great then after it shut down with no particular warning, it just won't come on for a year now.. Sometimes the button part lights up but the actual screen won't come on and sometimes its over heats until it is untouchable. Help ..

Weird problem. I got a Samsung Galaxy tablet from AT&T October 2016. Everything was fine until about four months ago. Whenever I'm holding my tablet my internet stops...working or slows down to a crawl. I mean physically touching it. I can lay it down on a table or if I'm in bed I can place it on my stomach and remove my hands and the Internet will respond at regular speed. So my question is simply why??? Btw it occurs with my android LG phones as well..,I hold them and my wireless internet/data stops responding until I let go of the devices. Please help.
