iPad mini 1 and 2 LCD Compatibility / Interchangeability?
I have an iPad mini 1st gen with a NON RETINA display. Can I buy an OEM iPad mini retina display and use it in my NON RETINA iPad mini?

You cannot. The screens are different as well as the logic board which processes the information and sends it to the screen. They cannot be interchanged.
