The screen is too dark.

My husband tinkered with the settings and now the brightness is too dark, and the image is stretched vertically. This is a PC monitor, and not a flat screen.

So it's a CRT screen connected to a computer running windows?

Options

Have him "tinker" it back.

Some monitors have a "factory reset" button or setting. Otherwise setting all the adjustments to 0 should be close to factory settings (or a good starting point).
